Making the Most of a New Home Site Visit

A home visit is a chance to see how the spaces feel and to ask questions that matter to you. Before you go, review the floor plan and make a short list of things you want to check, such as room sizes, storage, access and shared facilities. Bring measurements for furniture or appliances if you have them.

During the visit, walk through the route you would take in an ordinary day. Notice how rooms connect, where daylight enters and whether movement through the home feels comfortable. Look at the condition of visible finishes and shared spaces, and note any details you want the project team to explain.

Ask clear, practical questions about the features shown, the community facilities, access arrangements and maintenance responsibilities. If something is important to your decision, ask where you can find the relevant written information.

Take notes after the visit while details are fresh. Comparing the same observations across homes makes it easier to weigh what matters most to you and your household.
